Architectural Terra Cotta Produced at the Atlantic Terra Cotta Works, Perth Amboy, NJ

Louis Paxson Booz Jr. was, for a time, the Engineer of the City of Perth Amboy. A. Hall & Sons Terra Cotta was founded in 1846, changed its name to Perth Amboy Terra Cotta Works then to Atlantic Terra Cotta Works and closed its doors, always at 59 Buckingham Avenue, in 1943. The factory lay abandoned for several years and before its demolition Louis Paxson Booz Jr. rescued these architectural works, that remained in the factory. They were stored on the side of the house at 1 Lewis Street in Perth Amboy where his son Louis Booz and his wife Barbara Booz resided. Joe Guth purchased these rarities from Barbara Booz about 1995 and they remain in the Joe Guth Collection, photo by Joe Butewicz, 2018.
