In 2021-22 a dual exhibition of Jasper Johns works was presented at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York and a differently curated exhibit of Johns work ran concurrently at The Philadelphia Museum of Art. The Whitney exhibit featured Johns' work grouped in categories and the PMA exhibit offered a more diverse sampling of Johns' work. At the time, Johns was the most famous living artist in America.
