If you have done any digging at all you will understand how absurd it is to pull a 6 gallon crock from the earth undamed and in one piece. This one has just a hairline crack and nothing missing. It came from a small stone lined privy that was too narrow to get a small D handled short shovel into. The privy was filled with rocks and bricks. The floor boards and the seat were under the bricks and rocks and the crock was below and protected by the wood. Just another reason why bottle diggers don't stop till they hit bottom!!!
