69th Pennsylvania 1999-2001
Here's a teakettle ink lying ia soldier's hut from thr 69th Pennsylvania at Ewalt's farm. This is a tough item to dig, not many of these come from the ground. Inkwells are common in soldier's huts. Many men wrote letters home and officers were required to write logs and orders daily. The soldiers that stayed at this camp were involved in 3 major engagements, Chancellorsville, Fredricksburg and Gettysburg. For more photos of Civil War bottles and artifacts being recovered see our Civil War Excavation Album.
