Here's a close up of the goodies from the whiskey pit. Notice the early Indian pipkin and the stoneware turtle. Jim says that it is not uncommon to dig period Indian earthen ware in the use layer right along with bottles. Some time the pottery is even earlier that the use layer. Some of the brushed on decorations can be Native American and some may be of Mexican origin. That is so cool!!!
