Lets go digging for old bottles. I've had fun doing it since 1972!
Slover's Landing Shards c1979
These pontil bases were recovered from Slover's Landing, an old wooden bulkheaded steamboat landing on the South River in Sayreville, NJ. Many cobaly blue pontil sodas from New York and pottery beers were found in the c 1850s layer. the site was later taken over by the Brookfield Insulator manufactory where they imported soda bottles from Northern NJ and NY to use as cullet to make their glass telegraph insulators. Hundreds of c1880s short sodas and pottery beers were dug in this upper layer at low tide.
